Albert George Treff was born on November 30, 1930 in San Antonio, TX. to Alfred George Treff and Florence Elsworth Treff and was raised on a dairy farm in San Antonio, TX. He died on July 25, 2016 at Las Palmas Nursing Home in Cotulla, TX at the age of 85.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alfred, Paul, Herbert, Ferdinand and Henry Treff and a sister, Florence Treff Palmer. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Jane Matyear Treff, his children, Matthew Allen Treff (Lori), of Crestview, FL., Arthur Ray Treff (Angela) of Willis, TX., Patrick Alan Treff of San Marcos, TX. and brother Frederick C. Treff of Lincoln, CA., 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He joined the Army in San Antonio, TX. at 17. He was transferred into the Army Air Corps and sent to Japan to help with the "mop up" of Japan after World War II. He returned home as an Air Force Sergeant on March 9, 1950. He received his GED while in Japan.
He married Mary Jane Matyear on June 3, 1950.
He was recalled into active duty during the Korean Conflict and sent to Mineral Wells, TX. to re-open the old Wolters Army Base as an Air Force Training Facility. His date of separation was December 8, 1951 as a Staff Sergeant.
He started working as a lineman for SWB on November 6, 1950, in San Antonio, TX. He was transferred to Corpus Christi, TX in September of 1954. He later reguested a transfer to Cotulla, Tx. to be closer to his beloved ranch when he retired. He was transferred to Cotulla on February 25, 1974 as an installer/repairman and retired on November 6, 1989.
His ranch was his church, he said often, "This is proof that there is a God." He began raising Black Angus, added Soma Brangus and later added zebra to his herd.
He opened the Cotulla Social Club on September 8, 1991 and closed it on December 26, 2009. He served on the L Salle County Volunteer Ambulance Service as an EMT along with his wife. He helped "stripe" the spaces for Cotulla's annual Wild Hog Cook-Off and Fair.
He was the assistant coach to Coach Arthur Treff, for Little League Baseball in Cotulla. He was an assistant den leader to his den leader wife for the Cub Scouts and Weblos of the Boy Scouts of America in Corpus Christi, TX.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved to identify animal tracks and look for arrow heads.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Cotulla, TX. 78014. Burial and graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Rd., San Antonio, TX. 78226, with Rev. Chad Chamness officiating at both.
Pallbearers are Matthew, Arthur, Patrick and Jimmie Treff. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Graff, Mark Kephart, Red Franklin and Jamie Hearn.
