Obituary

Charles "Jimmy" Hurt died Friday, May 31, 2024 at the age of 75 with his loving family by his side.  Jimmy was born on July 16, 1948 in Pearsall, Texas to Charles and Ada Talley Hurt.  He graduated from Dilley High School in 1966 and graduated from Texas A&I Kingsville in 1972 with a bachelors degree in finance. On December 29, 1973, he married the love of his life, Patricia Crumley Hurt. The two were each others' best friends and enjoyed traveling together over the years, visiting almost all the states! Pat and Jim just celebrated their 50th anniversary last December with family and friends.

Jimmy was an easy-going south Texas rancher who wasn't afraid of a little risk. He was never quick to make any decisions and that usually paid off. Jim always said he was no teacher, yet he taught so many people in more ways than he knew. He was passionate about history and his family heritage. He was the great, great grandson of the honorable George C. Kimball, the brave leader of the immortal 32 that came from Gonzales to defend the Alamo. Jim was a 32nd degree freemason and a member of the Frio County Lodge for over 40 years. He was an avid reader that loved to sit around and tell stories about the good old days. Jimmy always talked about quality over quantity, and lived the life to prove it. He loved hunting and fishing with his loved ones more than anything and was always so excited for those "first deer" and " first fish" moments. Jimmy greatly enjoyed sitting in a hunting stand, whether it was with friends, family, or alone, and considered each trip a success whether he shot anything or not. Jim wore many hats but his favorite was "Grandpa", and his granddaughters were the light of his life.

He will be missed tremendously and is survived by his wife, Patricia, his son William, his daughter Kimberly, his son-in-law Jake Smith, and his two granddaughters, Leona and Lodie Smith.

Services for Jimmy will be Saturday June 15, 2024. Internment at Pearsall Cemetery - 9:30 am, Memorial Service at Pearsall First Baptist Church - 11:00am.
