Clara Jo Horton of Cotulla, Texas died, Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the age of 72.  She was born  September 21, 1947 in Cotulla.  Clara Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Horton, her parents and her brother, Jerry.

CJ attended school in Cotulla and graduated from Cotulla High School in 1965.  She studied forms of government and sociology at Texas Lutheran University, graduating in 1969. She worked in the Texas Social Services system after graduation and attended Steve Hicks School of Social Work – UT Austin, in the class 1976. After retiring from the Texas Social Services, CJ began working at the Alexander Memorial Library in Cotulla in October 1998 until she completely retired on November 29, 2017.

She enjoyed many things – books, Cotulla Main Street, La Salle County, Bingo and her To Do List. She had accomplished many things on the list including a dinner theater and a train ride.

Clara Jo is survived by her brother, John Thomas (Tommy) Pogue and wife Marit of Flekkefjord, Norway.  She is also survived by one niece, 3 nephews and multiple cousins.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, January 31 at 3 PM at the First United Methodist  Church in Cotulla, TX.  There will be a period of fellowship at the church before the service with internment at the Cotulla Cemetery following.
