Clara S. Ruiz died peacefully surrounded by her childen at the Abode Home in San Antonio, Texas on Friday, January 12, 2018.

She was born in Cotulla, Texas on August 12, 1921 to Eduvigen Ortiz and Hilario Santoya. She now reunited with her parents, husband, Patricio Ruiz, her daughter in law, Ofelia Ruiz and her 10 siblings.

She is survived by her three children and spouse; Patricio Ruiz, Adelfina Maldonado and her husband, Noe Maldonado and Dionicia Ruiz; her four grandchildren and spouses, Patricio Ruiz IV and wife, Sara Ruiz, Luis Ruiz, Noemi Maldonado Martinez and husband Joel Martinez, Noe Maldonado Jr. and wife, Lorena Maldonado; 15 great grandchildren and her 9 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life Clara worked hard to raise her three children. After retiring at the age of 62, she volunteered as a reader for the Cotulla head start program, numerous hours at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was very active in the Cotulla Senior Center program. At the age of 88 she decided to move to San Antonio with her daughter Nicha where she joined St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church and became active in the Senior Center. Clara will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be buried next to her husband in Cotulla, Texas. Clara was 96 years old. May she rest in peace.
