Obituary

Edith Elnora (Marley) Franklin, affectionately known as "Nonie", was born August 7 th , 1922, in Fowlerton, Texas.  She was the sixth child in a family of thirteen. She passed away into the arms of the Lord on December 16 th , 2020, in Cotulla, Texas at the age of 98 years.

She was preceded in death: by her husband, Frank E. Franklin Sr. , her parents,  William Henry Marley and Margaret Emma (Hardcastle) Marley,  her siblings: Henrietta Weatherly, William "Bill" Marley, Elizabeth Avant, Roxie Marley, Louis Marley, Mamie "Tiny" Fiedler, Carlton Wayne "C.W." Marley, Travis "Sonny Boy" Marley, Cecil Marley, and Jesse Marley, and by her daughter-in-law, Judy Lansford Franklin (Bill).

She is survived by two sisters, Fayrene Ulbrich, and Anna "Sue" Dean, and five sons: Harvey (Shirley), Frank "Babe"(Donna), Robert (Pam), William "Bill", and Wayne (Louisa), also fourteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Nonie was a life-long resident of Fowlerton, and graduated from Fowlerton High School in 1940, after which she and Frank married in Tilden,Texas, and started rearing a family.  She was a life-long member of the Fowlerton Baptist Church and served as church secretary/treasurer for 70+ years.  Her greatest joy in all her long life was her family and her never-ending faith in God.  She always set the best Christian example for us all.

The family extends their sincere thanks to all the staff of the Las Palmas Skilled Nursing Facility for their kind and compassionate care of our loved one.

Because of safety concerns of the current COVID pandemic there will be a private family graveside service at the Fowlerton Cemetery-- then at a date to be determined later, a memorial service and celebration of life will  be held for everyone to attend.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 738, Cotulla, Texas 78014.
