Edna Nieschwietz passed away on January 25, 2014 at the age of 96.  She was born in Hobson, Texas, on November 26, 1917, to Charles and Magda Swize.  Edna attended Arnold School in Karnes County, Texas, and Page Junior High School and Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas.  She married John Nieschwietz in 1938.  They moved to the family ranch in Encinal, Texas in 1943, where they were very involved in their church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the community.  Edna was an avid gardener and she loved to cook.  Together, she and her husband John operated a very successful Beefmaster cattle operation.

Edna is preceded in death by her parents, husband and seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son John Nieschwietz (Nancy), daughters Diane Phelps (Bob), Sandra Muenchow (Herman).  She is also survived by her grandsons John Nieschwietz III, Alan Brant Nieschwietz, and Christopher Ryan Nieschwietz, and her great-granddaughter Callie Michelle Nieschwietz

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Peters Funeral Home from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 am - 11:00 am with a Rosary being recited at 10:30 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Encinal, TX. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Father Nolasco Hinojosa and Father Noe Davis celebrants.

Interment will follow at the family plot in the Encinal City Cemetery.
