Obituary

Elizabeth was born on January 12, 1933 I Woodward, Texas. She was the only child of Louis Ernest and Julia Stephenson Schulze, who preceded her in death. Elizabeth was married to Bobbie Frank Jones, who preceded her in death in 2005. She was a teacher, school board member, mentor, friend and much loved mother, grandmother (Mimi), and great-grandmother. Elizabeth's mantra was BELIEVE.
Elizabeth graduated from Cotulla High School and Texas A&I Kingsville. She taught in the school districts of Odem, Taft, Three Rivers and Cotulla for a total of thirty-four years. During her career, she was a member of the Texas State Teacher Association and the National Education Association. Elizabeth and Bobbie chartered the Brush Country Retired School Personnel Association. In 1999, she became part of the Texas Retired Teacher Association and served as the secretary of District XX. Elizabeth served on the Cotulla ISD School Board as a member and officer. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church holding numerous positions on the board. Elizabeth also served as the President of the United Methodist Women and Women's Club of Cotulla.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving children Frank (Ann) Jones, Carl (Bobbie Woodward) Jones and Dr. Julie (Juan) Carbajal. Known as Mimi, she is survived by six grandchildren; TJ (Thomas) Jones, Kayla (Enea) Zhonga, Matthew (Fiancé Brianne Schnettler) Jones and Amy, Jenna and Catrina Carbajal. Also surviving Mimi is her great-granddaughter Mya Grace.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. and the service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 302 Center Street, Cotulla, Texas.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers at The Lodge at Leon Springs and from Heart to Heart. We will forever be appreciative of the love and daily care given to our mom, Ms. Elizabeth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the First United Methodist Church of Cotulla, 302 Center Street, Cotulla, Texas 78014.
