Obituary

Guadalupe G. Rodriguez, "Lupe" 77, a longtime resident of Cotulla, Texas, entered eternal rest on July 31, 2026. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving husband, children, and family after a brief illness.

Lupe was born on April 14, 1949, in Cotulla, Texas, to Esequiel and Josefa L. Gonzalez.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother who took great pride in her home and found her greatest joy in caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. The time she spent with her grandchildren was especially precious to her. She delighted in preparing their favorite meals, spoiling them whenever she could, and creating lasting memories together. Lupe also enjoyed shopping trips to her favorite stores and looked forward to family gatherings, where she treasured visiting with those she loved. She shared a special bond with her sisters and always enjoyed spending time with them. A faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lupe rarely missed Mass and lived her faith with quiet devotion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Esequiel and Josefa L. Gonzalez, and her brothers, Esequiel Gonzalez Jr. and Gabriel Gonzales.

Lupe is survived by her beloved husband, San Juan Rodriguez of Cotulla, Texas, and their four children: Sandra R. Bragdon "Sandy" of Floresville, Texas; Sayna Rodriguez of Cotulla, Texas; Sonya Rodriguez Barbour of Cotulla, Texas; and San Juan Rodriguez Jr. and his wife, JoAnne, of Alice, Texas.

She also leaves behind the grandchildren she loved so profoundly: Cassandra Brewer (William), Brenda Martinez (Andre), Julissa Ruiz (Santos), San Juan Rodriguez III (“Tres”), Brayden Matthew Barbour, and Brennan Michael Barbour; as well as six treasured great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her four sisters: Helen C. Medina of Austin, Texas; Ramona Moreno of Freer, Texas; Elbia Alvarez of Freer, Texas; and Adelida Lopez of Spring Branch, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lupe will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her generous heart, her deep faith, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and devotion. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
