Obituary


Iola Ehlert of Cotulla passed away on January 9, 2014 at the age of 91. She was born in Barker, TX. on June 30, 1922 to Fredrick and Grace Lyons. In 1940 she married Edgar O. Ehlert and they moved to Cotulla in 1945. Together Edgar and Iola farmed, ranched and later they founded and operated Ehlert Electric & Construction Company. They had three sons, Floyd Thomas Ehlert, Wayne Edward Ehlert and Bryan Eugene Ehlert. Edgar and Iola were long time members of the Methodist Church, serving in many capacities over the years. Iola was known as a great cook, good baker and famous for her organizational skills. Her motto was "Let's get this done."

Ms. Ehlert is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar O. Ehlert and son, Floyd Ehlert.

Ms. Ehlert is survived by her sons, Wayne Ehlert and wife Obie of Cotulla, TX. and Bryan Ehlert and wife Virginia; sister, Vada Beckendorf and husband Marvin of Tomball, TX.; grandchildren, Janice Gaskin and husband Mitch of Austin, TX., Nathan Ehlert and wife Torie of Sweetwater, TX., Steve Ehlert and wife Rachelle of Floresville, TX. and Tracy Rico and husband Robert of San Antonio, TX.; great grandchildren, Garret Ehlert, David Ehlert, Shelby Gaskin, Gabriella Rico, Alyssa Rico, Alex Rico, Adam Wright, Sarah Wright, Matthew Ehlert and former daughter-in-law Alice Ehlert.

Visitation will be held on January 13, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church from 9:30 am - 11:00 am. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am.
