Irene Eva Cassiano Moreno passed into eternal rest on Sunday evening April 19, 2026 in San Antonio Texas.

Irene was born in Encinal Texas to Manuel Treviño Cassiano and Delfina Botello Cassiano on October 19, 1944. She was an 8th generation Tejana, descended from the founding Spanish families of South Texas.

Irene graduated from Cotulla High School in 1963 and attended college and would begin her career in education as an elementary teacher in Laredo Texas. Then with Cotulla Independent School District in 1972 holding many roles: secretary, teacher, principal and federal programs director. Her career in education spanned more than 40 years, retiring in 2010. She met and married her husband Juan J. Moreno Sr. In 1979 and would enjoy a lifelong marriage together of 47 years.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents and brother Oscar B. Cassiano.

Irene is survived by her husband Juan J. Moreno Sr. Her son's Juan J. Moreno Jr. and Victor M. Moreno Sr. Her grandchildren Victor Moreno Jr., Estevan Moreno, Xzavier Moreno, and Arabella Rodriguez. Her sibling Carlos B. Cassiano Sr. (Maria Teresa). Numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.

Visitation and Rosary will be on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Peter's Funeral Home with Rosary at 9am. Funeral Mass will be at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cotulla Texas. Interment will follow In Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cotulla Texas.
