James "Jim" Hugh Lovell, 75, of Encinal, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025. Jim was born on September 6, 1949, in Denton, Texas, to James Riley Lovell and Nancy Jane Porter. He graduated from Sanger High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger. In 1973, he married Linda Hearn Lovell, and together they raised two children.

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda; his children Michael (Janet) and Russell; grandchildren, Matthew (Sophie), Bradly (Kilee), William (Marlee), Justin (Mercy), and Jules; and great-grandchild, Allie. He is also survived by his sister, Cecilia "Cissy" Gudgell, and nephews Howard "Howie" and Allen.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his strong sense of duty, and his quiet strength. He lived a life marked by integrity, loyalty, and a deep devotion to those he loved.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. at Peters Funeral Home, followed by 10:00 a.m. Chapel Service. Interment will follow at Cotulla Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial denotations can be made to the La Salle County Fire Rescue Station #2 (Encinal, Texas) honoring Jim's generosity of giving to others.
