Jose Flores Sr. passed away on July 25, 2019 at the age of 86. He was born on August 26, 1932 to Marcos and Manuela Flores.

As a young man Jose was a hard worker traveling the states with his family to harvest produce. After marrying the love of his life Bernice he settled in the Midwest and planted his family. As a father of 11 children, Jose made sure the family was well taken care of, he worked 2 jobs, The Brick Yard and Thrall Car, eventually settling at Thrall Car in Chicago Heights, IL. where he worked until his retirement. He loved spending time with his children going on fishing and camping trips whenever possible.

Upon retirement Jose moved to Cotulla, TX. with his family and spent the remaining years of his life enjoying time near his father and family and working on his ranch raising cattle, goats and a few horses. One of his greatest pleasures was loving and laughing with his grandchildren. They were very precious to him. Jose's legacy of hard work, family commitment and love of his wife, 11 children, 40 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren will impact eternity. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Mr. Flores is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maria Mata and granddaughter, Maddison E. Alonzo.

Mr. Flores is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bernice O. Flores; daughters, Elizabeth Flores-Castro of Pearsall, TX., Hilda Flores (Benjamin) Reyes of San Tan Valley, AZ., Manuela F. (Gregory) Pentecost of Frederick, CO., Cynthia F. (Tyrone) Perkins of Cotulla, TX., Irma F. (Patrick) Siemsen of Homewood, IL., Raquel Flores of Victoria, TX., and Leticia F. (Juan) Carrizalez of Cotulla, TX.; sons, Eduardo Flores of Hoffman Estates, IL., Jose (Kristine) Flores Jr., Daniel (Mary Jane) Flores of Victoria, TX and Abel (Erica) Flores of Joliet, IL.; sisters, Antonia (Juan†) Ruiz, Jesusa (Mauricio†) Viesca and Esperanza (Ignacio) Medrano; brothers, Alcario (Sophia†) Flores, Reymundo Flores, Marcos (Estella) Flores Jr. and Juan (Catherine) Flores. He is also survived by 40 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Peters Funeral Home from 3:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Pallbearers are his sons, Edward Flores, Joe Flores Jr., Daniel Flores and Abel Flores; son-in-law's, Tyrone Perkins, Juan Carrizalez Jr., Greg Pentecost and Benjamin Reyes.
