Jose Carlos Vega of Cotulla passed away on January 9, 2014 at the age of 42. He was born in Chicago, IL. on January 3, 1972 to Jose Ayala Vega and Norma Lee Lewallen. Mr. Vega was a music DJ who went by the name Hurricane Joe.

Mr. Vega is preceded in death by his grandmother, Pascuala Salazar and nephew Jacob Ayala.

Mr. Vega is survived by his father, Jose Ayala Vega; mother, Norma L. Lewallen and husband Raymond; siblings, Nora Lisa (Hugo) Zamudio, Sandra (Luis) Martinez and Erasmo Castillo Jr.; nieces and nephews, Norma Zamudio, Zulema Zamudio, David Zamudio, Alizia Zamudio, Luis Martinez, Elena Martinez, Rafael Martinez, Briana Castillo and Jessica Castillo. He is also survived by numerous other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Peters Funeral Home from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday,  January 15, 2014 at Peters Funeral Home at 9:30 am.
