Juan Luis Cruz (La Manuela) passed away on November 18, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on September 9, 1947, to Manuela and Jesus Cruz Sr., he grew up in Cotulla, Texas. He moved away a few times but always came back to his hometown to be with his brothers.

Mr. Cruz is survived by his wife Maria (Chuchi) Aguilar, his children, John (Mary Ann) Cruz, Lisa (Steve) Wilson, Marisol (Mark) Vaughn, Anna (Roger) Sanchez, Juan X. Cruz, and Jacinta Cruz, numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, which some would say he loved more than his own kids. He is also survived by his twin brother, Santos (Melissa) Cruz and Angel Cruz.

One of his favorite stories to tell was when he was 12 years old and left home to work. He did this so that he could help his parents support his siblings. Although he dropped out of school at 4th / 5th grade, and he never learned to read or write that never stopped his will to work and support his family. He drove all over the country with his atlas at hand and made every location successfully with that resource alone, which is not an easy thing to do. Through every obstacle he was able to find a way to rise above… he made a beautiful life for himself, and he will be missed more than words can say.

Pallbearers will be Juan X. Cruz, Santos Cruz Jr., John Cruz, Michael Cruz, Senon Cruz Jr., Armando Davis Jr., Zavier Cruz, and Sylvester Cruz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Zuriana Cruz and Anika Sanchez.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Peters Funeral Home from 9:00a.m. to 12:30p.m. with a Rosary to begin at 9:00a.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1:00p.m. Interment will follow at the Cotulla East Cemetery.
