Judy
Northcut
May 11, 1944 — May 17, 2024
Cotulla
Judy Davis Northcut, age 80, of Cotulla, TX, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on the morning of May 17, 2024. She was born in Navasota, TX on May 11, 1944, to parents Guy and Josie Davis.
Judy was a graduate of Navasota High School. After graduation she was employed by the Texas A&M College. Judy married John Northcut on January 25, 1964. In their early years of marriage, they traveled between military bases and finally settled in Cotulla, TX in 1970.
Judy was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and cousin. Judy and John were married for 60 years. They raised two children, Butch and Jill and had a lovely family together.
She was passionate about many things throughout her life. Judy was a realtor for over 30 years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, where she served in various areas for many years. Judy was a woman with an incredibly strong faith and witnessed to anyone she encountered to bring them to Christianity and to know our Lord and Savior. She was also involved in numerous community organizations. Judy was recognized for that service by the Cotulla High School, LaSalle County Fair Association, La Salle County 4-H, La Salle County FFA.
Not only was she active in her community, but she was a dedicated mom and grandmother. She didn't miss any sporting events, stock shows, and always made sure homework got done.
Growing up, we have fond memories of playing dress up in her closet and running over her shoes, trying on all her funny hats and bangle bracelets, singing "Cornbread and Chicken" in the back of her suburban on the way to DQ, playing with her make up and making fun of her for using "age defying cream," hearing her gripe at Papaw for letting the goats and chickens out in her yard, always hopping on her riding lawn mower to fix the job that the animals did on her beautiful yard, going on our girls shopping trips in Navasota, making sure every year at the Wild Hog Cookoff she got her a corn-on-the-cob and candied apple, and always ensuring that we knew how much she loved us heathens and our shenanigans.
Judy Davis Northcut is survived by her husband John Northcut, her sister Lynn Gilleland, her children Butch Northcut (wife Karen) and Jill Leone (husband Frank), her grandchildren Kade Northcut (wife Marisa), Jordyn Hollon (husband Greg), Cheyenne Vyvlecka (husband Zachary), Kord Northcut (wife Taylor), and Reagan Leone, her great grandchildren Riley Northcut and baby boy Northcut, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Josie Davis and her brother Leo Davis and his wife Kay.
Judy lived a beautiful life. We look forward to the day we get to see our Juju's smiling face again, as she waits on that bench to greet us in heaven. Thank you for coming today and helping us celebrate her life.
