Mady C. Whitwell
M.C. (Mady Carroll) Whitwell died on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born on January 20, 1930 in Pearsall , TX to C.S. Whitwell and Ila Lindholm Whitwell. He grew up in Pearsall and Cotulla, attended and played football at Tarleton State Junior College and went on to earn a degree in Agriculture at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia Whitwell of Cotulla; his sister Shirley Kennedy of San Angelo; his daughter Carolyn Morgan (Buddy Morgan) of Cotulla; his son Michael Whitwell (Jamie Whitwell) of Cotulla; his daughter Michelle Pokorny (David Pokorny) of St. Louis, Missouri; his granddaughter Morgan Hynds (Sean Hynds) of Sahaurita, Arizona; his granddaughter Ryan Armstrong (Charles Armstrong) of New Braunfels; and his grandson Clayton Pokorny of St. Louis, Missouri.

M.C. and Wanda, his wife of 45 years, spent their early years in Pettus, Texas where he taught Ag and was high school principal. OIn 1965, he decided to become a full-time rancher and moved his family back to Cotulla. There he was a wonderful steward of his land and a successful cattleman. After Wanda's death in 1995, M.C. married Sylvia Anderson of Pettus. He and Sylvia shared 16 years together, and enjoyed travels to Colorado, Alaska and their harbor house in Port Mansfield, where M.C. had fished for many years.

He loved to hunt, fish, and tell stories of his life, adventures and friends. He was a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Texas Farm Bureau, and First United Methodist Church of Cotulla.

A service of remembrance and celebration will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Cotulla at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013. Services are under the direction of Peter's Funeral Home.
