Manuel Nino Avila, 90 of Hobbs, New Mexico formerly of Cotulla, Texas, died on September 14 , 2019.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday September 21, 2019 at 10am Sacred Heart Catholic Church 307 S. Main St. Cotulla, Texas.  Interment to follow.

Visitation and Rosary will be held on September 20, 2019 4 pm-9pm at Peters Funeral Home 500 N. Main St. Cotulla, Texas

Manuel was born on April 30, 1929 in Colombia Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Terecita Nino and Bruno Avila.  He married Armandina Arce on February 28, 1950.  Armandina and Manuel remained inseparable for 70 years.  He enjoyed the cowboy way of life. He loved animals and enjoyed indulging in his favorite whiskey now and then. The family says he spent the better years of his life teaching his grandkids and great grandkids how to rope.  He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

Manuel is survived by three sons; Homero Avila of Hobbs, NM, Manuel Avila Jr of Giddings, Tx, and Hugo Avila of Douglasville, Georgia.  Three daughters; Angelica West of Del Rio, Tx. Hortencia Del Toro of Cotulla, Tx and Armandina Clark of Temple, Tx; 16 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and sisters, his son Alfredo Avila, his granddaughter Rosanna Avila, his great grandson Saul Garcia Jr and his beloved wife Armandina Avila.
