Margarita
Medellin
Jun 18, 1938 — May 3, 2026
Cotulla
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved mother and grandmother, Margarita Medellin, on Sunday May 3, 2026. Maggie, as she was known to family and friends, passed away peacefully at age 87 in her home with her son, Cesario, by her side after multiple surgeries and hospital stays due to an accidental fall she suffered in late March 2026. We are thankful that she is now with her Lord and no longer suffering. Maggie was born on June 18, 1938 and was the daughter of Erminia Rios and stepdaughter of Alejandro Rangel. As a child, Maggie began working before the age of 10. Maggie was blessed to be the eldest sister to 4 half siblings, Victoria, Diana, Lauro, and Hortencia Rangel. She became a mother in 1961 after giving birth to her first son, Robert Lee Rangel. After marrying Cesario Medellin, Sr, she gave birth to her second son, Cesario Medellin, Jr in 1971. In 1984 she became a grandmother for the first time when April Rangel was born to her son, Robert and his then wife(Lourdes). The Lord blessed her with 2 more beautiful granddaughters, Barbara Lee Rangel born in 1987 and Corina Elaine Rangel in 1996. Three days following her 65 birthday she became a great grandmother when Abrielle Cerise Rangel was born to her granddaughter, April. Mrs. Maggie Medellin was an avid gardner and greatly enjoyed raising chickens just like her mother. She was also a practicing Catholic and was a huge fan of professional wrestling. When Catholic Mass, Smackdown or WWE Raw were on she was glued to her television.
She is survived by her devoted sons, Robert Rangel (spouse: Ofelia) and Cesario Medellin, Jr.(spouse: Tamiyo), her granddaughters, April (Rangel) Lidell (spouse: Jarrett Lidell), Barbara Lee Rangel (spouse: Yesenia Argueta) and Corina Rangel, her great grandchildren, Abrielle, Aila, Caden, Jolee and Jackson, her loving sister, Diana (Rangel) Muriel, her nieces and nephew, Nora Galvan, Sandy Muriel, and Rudy Muriel, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cesario Medellin Sr., her mother Erminia (Rios) Rangel, her stepfather Alejandro Rangel, her brother Lauro Rangel, her sisters Victoria and Hortencia and their spouses, and her niece Wanda and nephew Robbie.
We will forever remember her love and her strength.
