Margarito V. Martinez

June 19, 1930 - September 17, 2013

Margarito V. Martinez of Cotulla passed away on September 17, 2013 at the age of 80 in Cotulla after a lengthy illness, surrounded by family.

Mr. Martinez was born on June 19, 1930 in Cotulla, Texas to Margarito E. and Aurelia V. Martinez and had one sister Celia. He graduated from Cotulla High School in 1950 then served our nation in the US Army. After returning from the service, he attended Barber College in San Antonio. On September 7, 1959, he married until Marta's death in 1977, he remarried, Beatrice V. Martinez and remained happily married until her death in 2005. Margarito was a self-employed barber for over 50 years in Cotulla until his "official" retirement at the age of 80! He made many friends and acquaintances through his profession as a barber and through all of his other entrepreneurial ventures. He enjoyed his community of Cotulla, always having funny stories to tell and he never met a stranger. Many thanks to his customers of so many years for your business and friendship, you brought much joy to our father.

Mr. Martinez is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Celia and wives Marta and Beatrice.

Mr. Martinez is survived by his children, Amanda G. Martinez of Cotulla, Jaime Martinez of Cotulla, Norma M. Posada of Cotulla and Sonia M. Craig of Austin; grandchildren, Anissa (Stephen) Klages, Dalia (Ernest) Posada, Lydia Posada, Marc Posada, Dennis Posada and Sabrina Posada; great-grandchildren, Haylee, Madelyn, Merissa, Erik and Mariah; nieces and nephews, Hilda Rodriguez, Carol Rodriguez and Arturo Rodriguez as well as numerous friends.

Visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm. Services will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 10:00am.

The family would like to thank all of his family and friends for all of the prayers and well wishes extended to our father. We would also like to thank the staff at Las Palmas Nursing Home for their endless time, comfort and help given to our father. You are all wonderful people who clearly care about each resident. We thank you.
