Maria Louise, 73, of Encinal, Texas, suddenly passed away on February 27, 2024. Her loss is completely unexpected, and her family is profoundly saddened.

Maria was born on September 8, 1950, to Luis and Evelina Soto in Denver, Colorado: the oldest of nine children. She was predeceased by her husband, Juan Castillo Sr., her parents, Luis and Evelina Soto, sister, Sara Alicia Hernandez, brothers, Jose Alonzo, and Patricio Soto.

She is survived by her son, Juan Castillo Jr. (Rosario), Julissa Soto, brothers, Luis Alejo (Isabel), Jesus (Teres), David, and Francisco (Lisa) Soto, and sister, Maricela (Donald) Coronado, along with numerous nephews, nieces, great nephew, great nieces, and many friends.

Maria was a devoted catholic, always looking forward to Sunday mass, one of her many passions, as was going to the La Salle County Encinal Nutrition Center for lunch and a few good games of Loteria, where she would interact with friends One to never be shy, she was always a willing participant at the center when it came to the holidays, always dressing up for the occasion, especially her favorite, Halloween, she was such a vibrant soul, always ready for her next adventure.

Her unexpected passing leaves such a big emptiness in our hearts Rest in Peace "Mom", you will forever be loved and missed.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Peters Funeral Home from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 10:00a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Encinal Cemetery.
