Maria Hernandez passed away on April 13, 2025, at the age of 83. She was born on August 15, 1941, to Alfonso Lopez Chacon and Maximina Cantu Otiveros.

Ms. Hernandez is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Lira Hernandez, her parents and numerous siblings.

Ms. Hernandez is survived by her children, Melida Hernandez Torres (Pedro Garcia Torres), Elizabeth Hernandez, Ruth (Marcelino) Juarez, Jesus Hernandez and Sindy Hernandez; her caregiver, who was more life a daughter, Maria Petra Benavides; grandchildren, Crystal Mesta Torres, Monica Torres Barrera, Pedro Hernandez Torres Jr., Tracy Ruiz, Brianna Ruiz, Marcelino Juarez Jr., Christian Juarez, Austin Juarez, Jesse Santiago Hernandez, Santiago Jesus Hernandez, Abigail Hernandez, Gabriel Jesus Hernandez, Gilbert Cavasos Jr., Ryan Royal Cavasos and her siblings, Eusebio Lopez, Leopoldo Lopez and Blanca Estella Lopez Otiveros. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Peters Funeral Home from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 10:00a.m. at Peters Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Cotulla East Cemetery.
