Maria Elena Huerta passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 60. She was born on October 30, 1964, to Jesus and Esperanza Galvan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her late husband Alfredo "Freddy" Huerta.

Maria is survived by her children Bianca (Jonathan) Easley, Brianna (Roland) Duron, Alyssa (Garret) McDonagh, Malyssa (Austin) Wright, and Jesus "Jesse" Galvan Jr, along with her grandchildren Andrew, Rayce, Everley, Daphne, and Roland Jr. and her three sisters Patty, Terry, and Linda.

Maria was raised in Artesia Wells and graduated from Cotulla High School. She was an employee of Cotulla's Newman Middle School for many years. Above all she was a devoted mother, caretaker, and beloved friend.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Peters Funeral Home from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 10:00a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Artesia Wells Cemetery.
