Ned Kelly Lann, Sr., 81, died Friday, May 21, 2021, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Lann is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nora Mae (Meeks) Lann; a sister, Betty Agnes Noll; a son, Ned K. Lann, Jr.; two daughters, Paula Mae Langbein and Julie I. "Jew-Lee" Lann-Briere; three grandchildren, Jarot Sie Lann, Jessica Kelly Lann, and Jenna Mae Deckard; a great-grandchild, Ariel Mae Lann; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sie Lann and Edith (Kelly) Lann; a brother, Sie Joe Lann; three sisters, Grace Elizabeth Sylaker, Ilene Byrle Lann, and Mary Nancy Pendleton; and a granddaughter, Ashleigh Nichole Langbein.
Mr. Lann was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Cotulla. He graduated from Cotulla High School and received a B.S. in art history from Sul Ross University. He and Nora were married Aug. 26, 1967, in San Angelo.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served his country as a machinist's mate on the USS Nicholas. After his military service, he worked as a housing referral officer, a public educator, and a professional plumber.
Ned was known for his great sense of humor and was dearly loved by his family, friends, and neighbors. He will be greatly missed and will remain in their hearts and memories.
Visitation will be held Fri., June 4, 4-5 p.m. for immediate family and 5-9 p.m. for the community, at Peters Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Sat., June 5, at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Cotulla, with Fr. Pawel Antoszewski officiating. Immediately after the service, burial will take place in the Cotulla Cemetery. Family members will then gather at the Country Store restaurant.
Flowers may be sent to Peters Funeral Home.
The family requests that masks be worn at Mass and graveside services.
