Raymond G. Martel, 78, of Dilley, Texas, passed away on July 26, 2026.
Raymond was born on November 24, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to Miguel and Ramona Martel. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969.
Raymond dedicated more than 40 years of his life to the power line industry, where he worked as a General Superintendent. He was respected by those who worked alongside him and was known for mentoring many throughout his career. His knowledge, leadership, and strong work ethic earned him the admiration of many in the trade.
On July 19, 1979, Raymond married the love of his life, Olga Martel. Together they shared 47 years of marriage and built a family that was the center of his life.
Raymond enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He found peace in nature and treasured the time spent with family and friends making memories outdoors.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Olga Martel; his children, Roxanna Nino and husband Alex, Angie Martel, Raymond Christopher Martel and wife Monica, Jennifer Perez and husband Raymundo, and Ruben Martel and wife Ronica. He was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren and a loving great-grandfather to 23 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers, Mike Martel, Tony Martel, Joe Martel, and David Martel; his sister, Chona Torres; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Ramona Martel; his brother, Paul Martel; his sisters, Louisa Ayala and Linda Solano; nieces and nephews, Timothy Martel, Anthony Martel, Robert Martel, Anna Perez and Sammy Arriazola.
Whether he was teaching a young lineman on the job, casting a line in the water, sitting in a deer blind, or spending time with his family, Raymond found joy in the simple things. His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the many people he mentored, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Peters Funeral Home from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary to be held at 7:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow at the Dilley Cemetery.
