Reyes M.
Aguero
Jan 5, 1943 — Jun 9, 2021
Cotulla
Reyes Moreno Aguero, 78, of Cotulla, Texas, passed away on June 9, 2021.
Reyes was born in Cotulla, Texas on January 5, 1943 to Alberto Aguero and Julia Moreno Aguero.
Reyes was married to Rosa Velia Garcia Aguero on August 6, 1972; they were married for 48 years.
Reyes attended grade school up until the 3 rd grade, at which point he decided to help his family by traveling north to work in the fields. Reyes was one of nineteen children so helping the family was key. After working different jobs here and there for years, such as a truck driver for Light Cattle Company, a mechanic for the Muriel Brothers, and finally a welder under Mr. & Mrs. Bob and Mary Davis, Reyes was driven and decided to make the greatest move of his career. It was on April 1, 1977 that Bob and Mary Davis sold Reyes the welding shop and Aguero Bros Welding began. With only a 3 rd grade education and not knowing how to read or write, he knew what he wanted and was determined to make it happen. He worked alongside his wife who helped for countless years by being the business secretary, his son in law, Yune, and his son, Guero, along with others who came and went throughout the years. During his years as the owner of the welding shop, Reyes contributed to the community by sponsoring or donating to several different organizations. Some were local baseball teams, such as the Blue Jay's in the 80's, the Boys and Girls Club, the Sacred Heart Catholic church, where he was a proud member of the congregation, and even the Cotulla high school MCB. Reyes and his family participated in the annual Wild Hog Cook Off as the Aguero Blue Hogs for countless amount of years enjoying all the food and chances to see those from near and far.
Welding and working with heavy machinery were what he enjoyed doing, but meeting different people, lending a helping hand and sharing stories of his youth always seemed to be something he also loved. Some advice that Reyes would always pass down to his grandchildren was to work hard for what they want and to continue their education. He would always let them know that if he could own and run a business for so many years without much education, imagine all the more he could have done.
Reyes will sincerely be missed by his family and friends.
Reyes is survived by his wife, Rosa V. Aguero, his children, Lupina Aguero, Frankie January, Jessica Aguero Flores (Yune), Marylou Aguero, Humberto Herrera Aguero (Gladys), Irene Aguero Soto, Reyes Aguero Jr. (Diana), and Manuel Alberto Aguero (Raquel).
