Obituary

Richard Frazier Watson was born on October 1, 1946, to the late Harmon S. Watson and the late Goldie J. Smith. He departed this life on March 7, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

Richard was the third son of six children, Richard was raised and educated in the Baltimore, Maryland Public School System, graduating from Carver Vocational High School, where he gained a love for cooking as a trade.

Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968, where he served as a Chief Cook at locations such as Fort Bragg, N.C., Fort Polk, LA., countries Turkey and Germany, and Fort Hood, TX., where he retired Honorably after 23 years of dedicated service.

Richard enjoyed life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. As a young boy, Richard worked as a caddy at Carroll Park Golf Course in Baltimore, where his uncle, Walter "Chink" Stewart, was the Golf Professional. Chink taught Richard the game of golf, which he loved, and he played on various golf teams and in many tournaments at home and in the military.

Saddened by his loss is his wife, Rosario Martinez; children, Myleka Bell, Safak Richard Mete, Gabriel (Krystal) Martinez, Jessica Martinez, and Adriana (Edward) Ramirez; siblings, Harmon S. Watson, Angela Watson-Savage and Benjamin Jackson. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, John H. Watson, Phillip L. Watson, Michael E. Watson, and Carl Miller.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Peters Funeral Home from 4:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. Inurnment will follow at a later date.
