Sotero Marroquin Galvan Sr., of Cotulla passed away on January 16, 2022, at the age of 91. He was born on October 7, 1930, in Vila Hidalgo Coahuila, Mexico to Bernardina G. and Sotero. M.

In 1961, Sotero married the love of his life in Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas, Mexico and then moved their family to Texas. He worked on Briscoe Ranch in Catarina from 1961 to 1962, as a ranch hand. He then relocated his family to Fowlerton, Texas. He would become the ranch foreman of Galinda Ranch. This is where his family would call home for the next 27 years. As a family, they enjoyed the comforts of living on a ranch, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. In 1990, Sotero retired as ranch foreman. He and his wife made their last move to Cotulla, Texas. He was able to enjoy watching his grandchildren grow, take care of his lawn, and sit on his porch swing and wave to everyone. He would live out the rest of his life in Cotulla.

Mr. Marroquin is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nicolasa S. Marroquin and son, Joe Marroquin.

He is survived by his children, Rosa (Raymundo) Camacho, Gloria (Rafael) Monzon, Veronica (Roberto) Perez, Sotero (Anna) Marroquin Jr., and Olga Marroquin; 11 grandchildren, Christy Alvardo, Roberto Perez Jr., Khloe Marroquin, Bianca Muriel, Vanessa Sanchez, Valerie Perez, Joe Marroquin, Raul Muriel III, Sotero Miguel Marroquin, David Ryan Perez and Dakotah Marroquin; 10 great grandchildren, Elijah Bryant, Maddison Rios, Derrick Gonzalez, Haylee Muriel, Diego Sanchez, Kylie Martinez, Andrea Gonzalez, Rylee Muriel, Ava Marroquin, Mya Marroquin, Owen Marroquin, Nico Martinez and Lucca Marroquin; sister, Maria Olga M. Garza and numerous nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be, Raul, Muriel III, David Ryan Perez, Dakotah Marroquin, Joe Matthew Marroquin, Robert Perez Jr., Miguel Sotero Marroquin and Honorary Pallbearer, Elijah Bryant.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Peters Funeral Home from 8:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Peters Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Cotulla East Cemetery.
