Obituary

Dr. Walter Wayne DeWeese passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday evening, Mary 1, 2015 at a rehav facility in Corpus Christi. He was 95
Wayne was born on March 2, 1920 in Collbran, Colorado to Herbert and Hansel DeWeese.
Wayne proudly served in the US Army/Air Corp during WWII from 1941 – 1945.
In November, 1941 he married Claretta Sims in Uvalde, Tx. They had three children and were married for 50 wonderful years before her passing in 1992.
Wayne was a well-known and successful Optometrist in the Cotulla/Pearsall area. He was in practice from 1952 until his retirement in 1986. He was also certified in watch and clock repair and he owned the Cotulla Jewelry Store. In the 1950's and 60's he was a member of the local school board and the Volunteer Fire Department. He also enjoyed bee keeping, raising parakeets, fishing the Gulf Coast and Antique car restoration.
Mr. DeWeese is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Claretta Sims DeWeese and brother, Herbert Frank DeWeese.
Mr. DeWeese is survived by his children, Helen (Billy Jack) Bice, William Wayne DeWeese and Robert Walter DeWeese; grandchildren, Mark (Carol) Taylor, Debbie (Mark) Baldree, Dana (Robert) Cuffaro, Travis DeWeese and Phillip DeWeese. He is also survived by 9 great- grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; nephew, Hugh (Bonnie) DeWeese and niece Sara Ray (John) Ricks.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:00a.m at the Cotulla West Cemetery.
