  • Funeral Information

Funerals serve an important purpose: they allow us to recognize a life that was lived and acknowledge that the life has come to an end. Funerals exist so that those who are survived can have a proper grievance. Coming together with friends and family, whether in a formal funeral or a more relaxed memorial service, gives everyone the opportunity to share memories, express emotions, and find comforting support. Whether you choose burial or cremation, the need for acknowledgement of the loss with family and friends is ever present. Together we can take influences such as religious and cultural traditions, cost concerns, and personal preferences and make a meaningful funeral as unique as the person who is being honored.

This section of our web site provides a funeral informational overview of the different types of services that we provide. Our funeral directors will work with you to put together a personalized package, and discuss the many options and details that make each of our services a personal, lasting tribute to your loved one.

  • Pre-Arrangements

    NOT IF, BUT WHEN!

Today more and more Americans are learning the value of planning ahead. We spend much of our time and money making sure we’re prepared for life’s uncertainties. We buy insurance for our homes and cars and pay for disability, fire, even flood insurance, just to be ready for life’s surprises. Doesn’t it just make sense to plan for the inevitable?

At Peters Funeral Home we understand a funeral is probably the last thing you care to think about. But if you don’t take a few minutes to consider prearrangement, someone you love will be faced with these difficult decisions later, at a time of great emotional and financial strain.

Prearranging is a way for you to be there for your family and loved ones when they need you most. It’s a way for couples to make these decisions together, not alone.

Peters Funeral Home has designed a simple way to record your wishes, personalize a service that reflects your life, and guarantee the cost of a funeral at today’s prices. You will enjoy the peace of mind knowing this gift you give your loved one is part of how you will be remembered.

We all do our best to plan for the maybe’s, the what if’s, yet too many of us fail to plan for the one thing in life that is certain. Call us at 830-879-2615 to discuss prearrangements.

  • Traditional Funeral Service

    Complete Funeral Service

This is a “traditional” funeral service. It includes a family and/or public viewing of the deceased which typically takes place in the Peters Funeral Home chapel. Following the viewing will be a service, typically in the church or at the funeral home. The service would then be followed by the burial of the casketed remains at the cemetery of your choice with some chairs for the close family and a tent.

  • Cremation Service

For those preferring cremation service, there are a few options available. These include a memorial service, a full funeral with visitation followed by cremation, or immediate cremation with no formal ceremony. Cremation is a process which is performed in a respectful and dignified manner and can be memorialized in many ways. Cremation refers solely to the manner in which you or your loved one has chosen to deal with the physical remains. It doesn’t limit the ways you can honor your loved one’s life.

    Complete Cremation Service

This service will be just like a Complete Funeral Service except cremation will follow instead of the casketed burial. Following the viewing, service or ceremony, and eventual cremation, the cremated remains can be buried, properly scattered, or returned to the family for safe keeping. Urns are used to hold the cremated remains. Urns are constructed out of protective materials like basic and semi-precious metals, ceramics, and woods. Like caskets, there are many choices.

    Immediate Cremation Service

The Immediate Cremation Service can be arranged as an immediate disposition of the body, but is most times followed by a memorial service at the church, funeral home or other location. Although a Memorial Service is one where the body is not present, one may choose to have the ashes present during the service. Embalming is not required, but do allow a short delay for the cremains to be ready.

  • Graveside Service

The Graveside Service can be another selection. This many times would follow a time of visitation at the funeral home. The casketed remains would then be transferred to the cemetery where a graveside ceremony could take place followed by the burial.

A grave side service is also available for those who choose cremation and a place among a cemetery to bury the ashes.
